18V DeWalt Motor Mount $53.25
Part #RCM500
Design Specs (110K)

Tony Buchignani and I have used these 18v Dewalt motors to win a lot of fights at BattleBots and BotBash over the years (Hazard, Evil Fish Tank, War Machine, Wedge of Doom.) We got tired of clunky mounting schemes so Peter Abrahamson (Team Sinister) cooked up a super-cool solution.

This face mount for the plastic gearbox is the hot ticket! It locks the torque clutch in place, constrains the gearbox to keep it from bursting and gives you an easy way to mount the motor. Plus it places the output shaft at the proper height to mate with the RCM200 pillow block. Included is a cleverly designed shim for locking your gearbox into either low or high speed.

These are made for the 18v motor and gearbox used in the 995k product - contact your local Dewalt service center for assistance in ordering.

Weighs 3oz.

18V DeWalt Motor Retainer $18.00
Part #RCM505
Design Specs (110K)

A brilliant design from American Performance Robotics - this add-on kit is the trick for stabilizing your 18v Dewalt setup. It takes about 20 minutes to install and adds 3oz of weight but it keeps the motor from breaking the plastic ears off the transmission case.

Pictures of an installed kit are here and here.

Instructions included.

Weighs 3oz.

18V DeWalt Motor $67.25
Part #RCM510

This is the standard Dewalt 18v drill motor.

DeWalt part number 393111-01.

It is designed to mate with the RCM511 transmission, below. Tony Buchignani has some good design tips on his website.

Weighs 17.1 oz

DeWalt part number 380264-15.

It is designed to mate with the RCM510 motor, above. Tony Buchignani has some good design tips on his website.

  • In low gear you get 450 RPM at 400 in-lb of torque
  • In high gear, 1450 RPM at 124 in-lb.
    Weighs 7.1 oz
DeWalt Drive Shafts $29.00
Part #RCM512

x-slpined version

double-D version

Another work of art from Peter Abrahamson and the boys at RF Ballard & Son machining, this shaft has been carefully engineered for maximum performance with minimal futzing around. It's made of ETD150, a modified chromoly steel that is not super hard but in fact, quite tough - yielding a 150 KPSI part that can be cut with a hacksaw. No hidden costs here with a cumbersome heat treating step either - we've had the splined end induction hardened for you! Hooked up to a special jig it failed at 1200 in-lb. - 3x the max output torque of the Dewalt transmission giving you a 200% safety margin.

Precision ground to fit a 1/2" bearing (like the RCM200) it is 7" overall in length with a 5.5" usable (1/8" standard) keyway.

The standard X-splined version mates with 18v Dewalt transmissions like the ones we sell. We also sell a double-D version (see picture at left) that mates with the 14v Dewalt transmissions.

Weighs 5.5oz
